More than a building, our headquarters is a lasting investment in adult learners
When it became clear that a centralized, purpose-built space was essential to meet increasing demand and expand the services we offer, LSW made a strategic investment – not just in a building, but in the community and the people who drive its progress.
Officially opened in May 2025, our new headquarters is a testament to what’s possible when a community believes in lifelong learning and economic mobility through education. Designed with intention and built for impact, this space reflects our commitment to meeting learners where they are – creating a welcoming, student-centered environment that fosters confidence, connection, and growth.
See below for a look at what our headquarters has to offer students.

For many of our students, earning a GED is the key to new opportunities in work, education, and life. The LSW GED Testing Center is here to make that goal achievable.
Located on-site, our center removes the need for travel and offers a familiar, supportive environment where students can focus and succeed. With four individual testing stations, certified lockdown browsers, and trained proctors, every detail is designed to ensure a secure and smooth testing experience.
Want to help us make this free GED Testing Center a reality? We are still seeking philanthropic partners for this project. Contact Madison Olig for more information.

Classrooms are where learning takes shape, and this one is built to meet adult learners exactly where they are.
Developed in partnership with Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), the MATC Community Classroom provides college-level instruction directly to LSW, enabling students to build clear pathways toward technical diplomas and associate degrees.

With 35% of LSW students learning online, the Virtual Broadcast Room makes it easy for instructors to connect anytime, anywhere.
Designed to support remote teaching, this dedicated space allows staff to deliver GED prep, lead virtual workshops, and host training sessions that reflect LSW’s commitment to meeting students where they are both academically and geographically. Whether reaching students across Milwaukee or beyond, the Virtual Broadcast Room ensures our programs remain accessible, engaging, and high-quality.

The Student & Volunteer Lounge is a welcoming hub for connection, reflection, and recharge.
Designed with comfort and flexibility in mind, the lounge features cozy seating, work tables, and zones for study, conversation, or prep between lessons. With amenities like personal lockers and complimentary coffee, this convenient space reflects the care and community at the heart of LSW.

A hands-on launchpad for adult learners exploring careers in science, technology, engineering, and math, the S.T.E.M. Lab makes skill-building and real-world experimentation accessible for all.
The lab also strengthens the connection between GED/HSED coursework and real-world application. HSED students benefit from a contextualized curriculum aligned with in-demand career pathways.
Through partners like WRTP | BIG STEP, LSW brings career-focused courses on-site in areas like manufacturing and pre-apprenticeship construction. For those pursuing fields like healthcare, customer service, or IT, we offer direct enrollment support and case management to ease the transition into MATC pathway programs.

The Book Nook is a cozy, student-centered space that encourages reading at every stage of learning.
Stocked with high-interest, literacy-friendly titles, GED prep materials, and multilingual resources, the collection is designed to be relevant and accessible for all readers. Thanks to generous donors, students are welcome to take books home for personal enjoyment.
