Headquarters Relocation
Brewer's Hill Neighborhood

In 2025, Literacy Services will move into a new home at 1737 North Palmer Street in the Brewer’s Hill neighborhood. Establishing a headquarters for adult education will allow Literacy Services to enhance its ability to address systemic barriers, social determinants of health, quality of life, and to embrace educational equity and access to adult learners throughout the Milwaukee area.

Literacy Symposuim

Milwaukee's first adult education hub will create the following opportunities:

Student First

  • Increase program offerings
  • Feature multi-use classrooms with flexibility to maximize peak programming hours
  • Create an on-site GED testing center
  • Showcase multimedia classrooms with the capability to broadcast virtual programming to adult learners currently enrolled to participate from home
  • Access for adults with learning disabilities to engage in more learning opportunities
  • Create a private enrollment space for courageous adults taking their first step toward realizing their educational aspirations

Community-driven

  • Include a dynamic centralized location for all staff to collaborate, plan, and coordinate services to best support our colleagues across all of our sites
  • Offer additional access to public transportation (our current space is not on a bus line)
  • Include space for social service partners to provide programming and increase access to address the barriers of adult learners
  • Partnership space for Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) to provide on-site support for adult learners and offer accommodations
  • Main Entrance
The headquarters will feature open-concept staff workspaces, refined classrooms, dynamic meeting spaces, and quiet testing areas. Initial conceptual renderings by GROTH Design Group are subject to change.
